Whitney Leaming is a documentary filmmaker and journalist at The Washington Post. She reports largely on breaking news, politics, immigration, humanitarian crises and human rights.  

Since joining the Post in 2013 as an intern, she has documented the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, outbreak of Ebola in West Africa, Zika in South America and the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. Whitney has covered civil unrest across the United States -- including Ferguson, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Kenosha and Washington, D.C. Currently based in Washington, D.C., she has covered both impeachment trials of former President Donald Trump and the January 6 insurrection. Her coverage of life in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria was shown in Congress during debates about providing humanitarian aid to the island. 

Whitney is a five-time Emmy nominee and a three-time Edward R. Murrow award winner. She has worked on two Pulitzer prize winning teams producing videos for a year-long series on fatal shootings by U.S. police officers and an investigation into Russia's involvement in the 2016 presidential election. In 2020, she was also a Pulitzer finalist for her role in the dual coverage of the Dayton and El Paso shootings.
